HYDRA
Hydra is perhaps the most beautiful port village in all of Greece. A tiny harbor ringed with cafes, restaurants and gold shops is surrounded by a village of stone houses and villas that rise up the hills like an ampitheatre. But one of the best things about Hydra is that there are no cars. Everything is moved by donkey, including groceries, building supplies, people and their luggage. Hydra is the former home of Leonard Cohen and stomping grounds of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Pink Floyd and many other famous and not so famous people.

The nearest church, right in the center of the harbour, is the Metropolis of Hydra, Assumption of the Virgin Mary, distinguished by its tall prominent clock tower, with the church's bells that announce religious events.

There are also other churches with beautiful domes supported by marble arcs, like Agios loannis and Ipapanti. The newest church on the island is Agios Konstantinos of Hydra, which is built upon the Saint's old family house.

POROS

Poros is a small, volcanic little island of great beauty. It is very close to Athens, and is a popular summer resort to both Greeks and foreigners. Many Athenians have summerhouses here, which can be noticed in the weekends, since the island livens up a lot then.
The island's name means narrow strait, and is separated from the Peloponnese by only 370 meters. It is considered a very romantic place, but is also great for families or backpackers.
The ruins of the temple of Poseidon from the 6th century BC and the monastery Zoodochos Pigis ("Life-giving Source") are just about the two only proper sights on the island.
There are also many old, interesting buildings in Poros town. The clocktower offers a breathtaking view, and it is nice just to stroll around here.

SPETSES
It is the last of the Saronic Gulf islands, 53 nautical miles from Piraeus, with a great history and the privilege of National recognition for its vital role during the Greek revolution against the Ottoman Empire.
There are a lot of remarkable historic sites which are maintained with love and care.
The Museum of Spetses situated at the mansion of Hatziyiannis Mexis (one of the wealthiest leading activist of that era), the main mansion of Laskarina Bouboulina which now is a private museum, and the historical monastery of St. Nicolas.
The most Important Festival of religious and historical meaning is "Armata". Early in September with weekly events leading to their peak on the 8th, the locals together with the guests celebrate the anniversary of the Great Spetses naval battle, one of the most significant fights of the 1821 revolution, which took place on the 8th of September 1822, where the enemy fleet was defeated to retreat after losing their flag ship.
Every year thousands of visitors on the above date re live that courageous victory with a spectacular dramatisation.
